Some good news:
Allamah Jassas ar-Razi’s monumental commentary on the mukhtasar of at-Tahawi has just been printed a few days ago, for the first time. Published by Dar al-Bashir al-Islamiyyah of Beirut, it is in 8 thick high-quality volumes, spanning a total of 4416 pages. It is edited by Dr. Said Bakdash of Madinah al-Munawwarah, the son-in-law of Sh. Awwamah.
It should be launched at the Cairo bookfair in just over 2 weeks time.

It is the original PhD by Dr Ismatullah – who I am lead to believe is based in Islamabad, Pakistan.
I also have a feeling that the whole work was completed as Doctoral projects at Umm al Qurra, and thus, all of it may be available in digitised pdf format. It would be useful if others can assist in retrieving all the parts in this format, as I am sure not everyone can afford the 8 volume printed edition (marketed at £75 in London)…

This book was ‘tahqeeq’-ed by four students at Umm al-Qura University (Makkah), for their PhD thesis. It was available in the bookshops in Saudi Arabia before the summer (2010), and was sold out rapidly.
The four ‘muhaqqiqs’ did an excellent job. Unfortunately, I don’t think the bookshops in Makkah have it at the moment.
Mukhtasar Ikhtilaf al-Ulama by Imam Abu Bakr al-Jassas has also been printed by Dar al-Bashir al-Islamiyyah. It is in 5 volumes. The tahqeeq is by Dr. Abdullah Nazir Ahmad Mizzi, who also has a tahqeeq of Mukhtasar al-Quduri.
Although the book was printed in 2007 (second edition), I’ve recently seen it in bookshops in Saudi Arabia. (those who are planning to come over for hajj this year may be interested).
The book is a ‘mukhtasar’ of Imam Tahawi’s Ikhtilaf al-Ulama, which seems to be lost.
any one know if you can get this in english?
These large technical works are rarely translated nor do I think it would be useful to do so.
