  1. Salam Shaykh,
Someone quoted the sayings of Imam Abu Hanifah and Imam Abu Yusuf recorded in al-Muhit al-Burhani on page 74 (where Imam Abu Hanifa says that a khutbah in Persian is valid, and Imam Yusuf says the same with the condition that the dhikr of Allah in Arabic is included) to refute Mufti Taqi’s fatwa that the Friday khutbah must be in Arabic (http://www.darultahqiq.com/the-language-of-the-friday-khutbah-mufti-taqi-usmani/). How would we reconcile the text of al-Muhit al-Burhani with the fatwa of Mufti Taqi?

    • The same is found in Imdad al-Fattah Sharh Nur al-Idah and I’ve heard in Al-Badaa’i al-Sanaa’i too, though I haven’t checked it myself yet. It’s an issue that’s unncessarily been blown out of proportion by some quarters, imho. I personally don’t deem a non-Arabic Khutbah invalid.
