In a number of lectures I delivered on the subject of Hadith, I mentioned a PhD thesis that was authored by Professor Jonathan Brown of the University of Washington, a Muslim professor who analyzed both the Sahih’s of Bukhari and Muslim and Orientalist views regarding them. Brown is very aptly able to identify some of the foundational flaws in Orientalist historical research and approaches the topic in a unique manner.
A number of attendees as well as close friends requested access to a copy of Pr. Brown’s thesis. So, in fulfilling their request, I have uploaded the book onto the site. The book is lengthy, a full 560 pages, but definitely worth the read. If you don’t have time to read the entire thesis, at least take a look at the summary of the book near the end.

I like much of brother Brown’s output on Hadith and I feel nevertheless GF Haddad does raise some valid concerns about the terms used and inferences derived.
