Attached is a manzumah on the principles of exegesis written by ‘Allamah ‘Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Uthman dan Fodi al-Maghribi. The following link provides a series of lectures by Shaykh ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Shahri on the nazm as well.

Both the link and pdf of the book come courtesy of our dear friend, Shaykh Murabit Benavidez. May Allah elongate his life and bless his efforts.
Assalaamu alaikum,
I was wondering if you could please share information on books or articles (in English, Urdu, or Arabic) about the islamic perspective of evolution and the arguments for and against it.
Jazakallahu khair

asSalaamu Alaikum,
An online version of “Evolution of Creation?” by Maulana Shihabuddin Nadwi (ra) is partially available online here: http://www.witness-pioneer.org/vil/Books/SN_evolution/default.htm
This translation of a work by Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (ra) may also have some material, although probably not a refutation of any sorts: http://kalamullah.com/Books/Men%20&%20the%20Universe%20-%20Reflections%20of%20Ibn%20Al-Qayyem.pdf
There is a book called “Religion & Science” by Maulana Wahiduddin Khan which contains a brief discussion on evolution. The book is quite brief, less than a 100 pages, and discusses atheistic views and modern age’s reliance upon material sciences at the cost of rejecting religion. At times the translation (from Darul Ishaat Publications) seems a bit long winded.
Do you have any information about Sheikh Abd al-Rahman al-Shahri?
To refer to him as ‘Maghribi’ is incorrect, as he was from Nigeria. I am not familiar at all with the Dan Fodios being referred to as ‘Maghribis’. This is usually reserved for Moroccans, Algerians, Tunisians and Mauritanians (sometimes, who themselves as generally referred to as ‘Shinqitis’).
